Matt Lee

Coach
Matt started swimming when he was 6 at the Hammond YMCA. He and his
brother, Jeff, then moved to Crown Point, IN where they swam with the
HUB. Joining the LCB swim team, under names like Gass, Blaze, and Krick,
Matt eventually found himself at Munster High School (Gary Davis) where
he would end up with 4 letters, 11 First-Team All-American honors, 11
First-Team All-State honors, four team records, numerous pool,
conference, and sectional records, a Team Runner-Up, and a State
Champion medal. Matt trained and competed for the former Michiana
Marlins of South Bend, IN from 1997-1999 under NCAA Individual
finalists, Brian Barnes(now an Assistant Coach with Auburn Swimming) and
Megan Oesting. He then went on to the University of Virginia, under
Mark Bernardino, as a scholarship recipient where he competed against
some of the best in the country and had the honor of training with some
of the best in the world. Matt went on to compete at the Phillips
66 National Championships in 1999 and 2000, as well as the 2000 Olympic
Team Trials, representing the Cavalier Aquatics Team of Virginia.
Matt and his Coaches have done well since his debut Winter season of
2007. The team grabbed third place finishes at the 2007 Winter and
Summer Age Group State Championships along with earning the Indiana
"Spirit Award" for both Championship Meets.... most recently, MSC was
Team Runner-Up at the 2008 Winter Age Group State Championship.
MSC Swimmers, over the past two seasons, have achieved the following
accomplishments:
*12 - Individual NW
Divisional Champions
*3 - Individual Age Group
State Champions, 9 State Champion Relays
*6 - Indiana State Meet Records
*5 - Indiana Association Records (all-time)
*14 - National Age Group Top-25 Rankings (nationally)
*34 - T-16 National Age Group Rankings
*5 – swimmers compete at the 2007 Jr. National Championships
